The first organized soccer program in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland was started by the Mount Pearl Kinsmen Club in the fall of 1969. They began running programs after school and on Saturdays for our community and it has all kicked off from there.
Fast forward to 1973, and with the help of Charlie Chaytor, Ed Moyst, and The Kinsmen Club, The Mount Pearl Soccer Association (MPSA) was formed. The Kinsmen Club turned over their uniforms and equipment to the Association and continued their support for a number of years to make our Mount Pearl Soccer Association program one of the best in Newfoundland.
For 50 years, we have strived to be one of the best soccer associations in the Province. The programs have continued to build on this strong foundation and we currently have over 1500 players across our Summer, Metro, Provincial, and Senior programs. None of this would be possible without the help of over 125 incredible volunteers; from coaches, managers, and executive members to convenors, canteen workers, referees, and executive members. These individuals prove every day to be the backbone of our association and we are incredibly grateful for every member.
The Association has also received tremendous cooperation and support from our sponsors and the City of Mount Pearl, in particular the Department of Parks & Recreation, who continue to help provide the highest quality soccer program in Mount Pearl.
